Hospital for ship breaking workers launched

CHITTAGONG: The 250-bed hospital of Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association (BSBA) was launched on Tuesday to provide medical service to workers of ship breaking sector.
Local lawmaker Didarul Alam and Industry Ministry Additional Secretary Miss Parag jointly inaugurated the hospital named ‘BSBA Hospital’ at Bhatiary under coastal Sitakunda upazila in the district.
BSBA – an organization for ensuring environment friendly ship recycling activities and flourishing of the sector, set up the hospital over 30 gandas of land to provide medication as part of its efforts for ensuring welfare of workers.
25 doctors, including all the well-known ones from neibhouring Bhatiary, Madam Bibirhat and Kumira will practice at chambers at the hospital to provide medication to workers under supervision of Dr BK Dash.
Four of the doctors will work round-the-clock for providing emergency treatment.
There are four modern operation theatres and latest medical equipments to provide medical service at the hospital that also procured an ambulance to carry emergency patients.
